PACE Award, Best Overall Program/Small Business: Booz Allen Hamilton
Employer Service Organization Partner: Downtown TMA
Since 1998, Booz Allen Hamilton has promoted sustainability by providing incentives and solutions to encourage employees to take commute alternatives. In addition to creating a more sustainable office space through the use of recyclable products and supplies, Booz Allen Hamilton works closely with the Downtown TMA to continue its strong commute options program. Hosting lunch and learns and providing access to Commuter Rewards are just two examples of the company’s dedication. Booz Allen Hamilton has also partnered with its building's parking provider to offer preferential parking for carpools and vanpools. In addition, they have collaborated with building management to have bike racks installed for cycling commuters. All employees receive a full subsidy for using transit. A monthly subsidy of $150 is also available for carpools/vanpools. The result? This past year, 40 percent of all Booz Allen Hamilton employees’ commutes were clean commutes.

PACE Award, Best Overall Program/Medium Business: Sutherland Asbill & Brennan
Employer Service Organization Partner: Midtown Transportation Solutions
Sutherland Asbill & Brennan began its commute options program in 1999 and, through its partnerships with Midtown Transportation Solutions (MTS) and The Clean Air Campaign, has grown its program to feature a variety of options and benefits. The firm currently offers up to $230 per month in transit benefits, $65 per month in paid parking for carpools, a Guaranteed Ride Home program, flexible work schedules with financial incentives, teleworking, bike racks and on-site shower facilities. The depth of the program has paid off, with nearly one-third of the 400 employees at Sutherland participating. The firm regularly partners with MTS to host events such as lunch ‘n learns, and distributes MTS’ Mobility Matters e-newsletter. The results of their commute options program have created bottom-line benefits for the law firm. In addition to tax savings, Sutherland has seen an improvement in employee productivity, recruiting and retention, as well as a decline in stress levels. This past year, more than 29 percent of all of the law firm’s employees’ commutes were clean commutes.

PACE Award, Best Overall Program/Large Business: Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta
Employer Service Organization Partner: Perimeter Transportation & Sustainability Coalition
Saint Joseph Hospital launched its commuter rewards program in 1999, working in conjunction with the Perimeter Transportation & Sustainability Coalition (PTSC). The hospital offers its employees numerous benefits for using commute alternatives including $230 per month in non-taxable benefits for vanpoolers and $20 per month for bike commuters. Recently, Saint Joseph's constructed a stairway and escalator to improve access to the Medical Center MARTA station. This infrastructure improvement was so effective that sales of monthly MARTA passes increased by 50 employees the first month. Last year, the hospital’s employees helped to reduce 74,571 vehicle trips and eliminate more than 2 million miles traveled by using commute alternatives.

PACE Award, Best Overall Program/Property Manager: Jamestown Commercial Management Company/999 Peachtree
Employer Service Organization Partner: Midtown Transportation Solutions
Jamestown Properties remains committed to ensuring 999 Peachtree is a commuter friendly building by offering amenities such as a bike share program, discounted Zipcar membership for building tenants, free vanpool parking, and reduced rate carpool parking. Unique marketing communications efforts include messages and info on: parking deck and courtyard signage, lobby LED screens, full-size lobby informational kiosk and its newsletter for tenants. As a clean air/sustainability measure, 999’s parking deck’s external lights remain off during daylight hours to reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
999 Peachtree/Jamestown Properties has also played an integral role in introducing and actively participating in two new community events that contribute to the overall sustainability of the Midtown community - the Midtown Market and Street Food Thursdays/Pop Up Chef. Both events provide building tenants and community residents the amenity of “walkable” lunch destinations, reducing vehicle miles of travel and encouraging the growth of locally owned and grown products and services.
