PACE Award, GDOT Commissioner’s Award: Sally Silver

This year’s recipient, Sally Silver, a member of Buckhead Councilman Howard Shook’s staff, played an instrumental role in leading her community through the transition from a suburban area to an urban area during the construction of GA 400. During that time, Silver was directly responsible for the creation of the Buckhead Area TMA (BATMA) which helped find common ground between residential and commercial interests. Since the creation of BATMA, the Buckhead business area has benefited from a reduction of more than 100,000 vehicle miles and 210 tons of harmful emissions. Silver was also instrumental in the launch of “the buc” shuttle for area commuters, which has provided more than 2.4 million trips since its inception.
