Regional Transportation Referendum
The 2010 Transportation Investment Act (HB 277) created the framework for a special transportation referendum that allows Georgia voters to decide on July 31, 2012 whether to approve a penny sales tax for a period of 10 years that would fund specific transportation projects in their respective regions from project lists selected by local officials with citizen input.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has developed an online toolkit to inform voters about the Transportation Investment Act, including a complete list of hundreds of transportation projects that would be delivered across all12 regions in the state if the referendum is approved.
In metro Atlanta, the Atlanta Regional Commission has put together an online portal featuring an interactive map of the 157 transportation projects on the region’s final list, as well as projections that describe the potential economic, environmental and mobility impacts of these projects.
