Bicycle and Walk Tips
Get moving. See where your feet can take you.
Ride a Bicycle Part of the Way
Some people can ride a bicycle all the way to work. However, if you can't, consider combining your bicycle commute with transit. Bicycles are allowed on MARTA, CCT, C-Tran and Gwinnett County Transit at any time of day. Call ahead for more information.
Guaranteed Ride Home
Bicycling commuters are eligible for the program, so if you need to get home quickly, you can. Register today, and you may qualify for up to five (5) trips home or to your car from work each year if an unexpected event occurs. Please note, you must fill out, sign and return the 2010 application to RideSmart, as well as receive enrollment confirmation, before using the service.
More Bicycling Resources
- Area bicycle maps are available from the Atlanta Regional Commission or from the Transportation Management Associations in the Perimeter business district and Emory University/Clifton Corridor area.
- For bicycle safety rules, download this free brochure. It's full of information about cycling rules, lane positioning, benefits of cycling and safety tips.
-
Effective Cycling® courses are offered by the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and through many local transportation management associations (TMAs) in your work area. These classes teach safe methods of riding on the road and in traffic. In many cases, the class cost can be subsidized by a TMA. Find out which organization can help you.
Walking Resources
Check out our free guide to pedestrian rights and responsibilities. Try finding opportunities to walk somewhere instead of driving. Maybe you can walk to lunch, to the bank or to run other errands.
