Air quality issues exist in areas outside metro Atlanta. That’s why The Clean Air Campaign is now working with cities across Georgia, providing resources to help us all breathe easier.

New Pollution Standards Put More Georgia Cities at Risk of Nonattainment

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified 28 counties in Georgia as nonattainment areas for ground-level ozone and/or particle pollution.

Presently, the air over Bibb, Clarke, Murray, Muscogee and Richmond counties is considered by the EPA to meet the standards for attainment, but these areas are at risk in the near future of falling into nonattainment status, due to increasing pollution from stationary and mobile sources.

We’re Ready to Help

The Clean Air Campaign is now working with government agencies, employers, schools and residents in Augusta, Columbus and Macon to help these areas take a proactive stance by:

  • Educating these groups about Georgia’s air pollution problems
  • Promoting alternative commute programs that help reduce traffic and improve air quality
