Public and Private Sector Employers Garner Awards for Commute Options
(ATLANTA, GA — 08.24.11)
The Clean Air Campaign, in partnership with the Atlanta region’s transportation management associations (TMAs), RideSmart, the region’s ridematching service and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) presented the 2011 PACE Awards today. In its 11th year, the PACE Awards program recognizes the best commute options programs in Georgia, celebrating the success of employers, property managers, schools and individuals in advancing the promise of cleaner air and less traffic.
“This awards program reinforces the idea that commute options are increasingly becoming a go-to business strategy for Georgia employers, not to mention a practical way to help organizations raise their green profile in the community,” said Renay Blumenthal, Clean Air Campaign board chair. “Each winner has demonstrated measurable results and a strong commitment for a better Georgia.”

• Clean Air School Champion of the Year - Deputy Brian Reents (General Ray Davis Middle School in Rockdale County)
• Clean Air School District of the Year - Gwinnett County Schools

Smith, Jr. “Georgia DOT applauds the many employers, individuals and schools like those we’ve honored today for their important work in reducing single-occupancy vehicles on our roads and improving mobility for commuters.”
This year’s ceremony was held at the Georgia-Pacific Auditorium, located inside the Georgia-Pacific headquarters in downtown Atlanta. The awards were sponsored by WABE 90.1 FM.
About The Clean Air Campaign
The Clean Air Campaign is a not-for-profit organization that works with Georgia's employers, commuters and schools to encourage actions that result in less traffic congestion and better air quality.
