The Clean Air Campaign must keep pace with our state's booming growth. So far, we've made great progress, but there is still much to be done. Here are just a few of the results we have accumulated so far.
On the Roads and In the Air
- Every day in metro Atlanta, the use of commute alternatives results in 1.4 million vehicle miles not traveled and 700 tons of pollution kept out of the air.
- More than 70,000 commuters have participated in Commuter Rewards, an innovative incentive program available statewide.
- More than 10,000 people in Georgia have registered to receive Smog Alerts via e-mail to help them take precautions on bad-air days.
- Almost 20,000 employers and commuters receive our newsletters to stay informed about air quality.
On the Job
- The Clean Air Campaign and its partners work with more than 1,600 employers and property management companies.
In the Schools
- Our Clean Air Schools program works with more than 300 Georgia schools and school districts to reduce unnecessary idling, encourage bus ridership and walking and enhance environmental education.
- The Clean Air Campaign creates lesson plans for schools that show the science behind air quality.
- Our programs reach more than 380,000 students and faculty and are available statewide.
In the Bank
- These programs and resources save Georgians more than $150 million every year on gas and vehicle expenses.
